Our Beginnings

The Warren County Genealogical Society was formed in 1981. We became a chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society May 20th, 1981.

Purpose

Our purpose is to build and promote interest in collecting and preserving genealogical records. We are here to assist you in finding your ancestors and relatives. We have many resources available to help you with your research, shorten your search and help you with court records. Our volunteer staff will be happy to orient you to our library and help you.

Resource Library

The Society is very proud of its Library/ Resource Room that has been made available to us by the Warren County Commissioners in the New Administration Building at 406 Justice Drive. Our room is located on the lower level. This room is now the home for all books, records, and materials that our Society has collected. The public is welcome to come and use our resources at no charge. The library is staffed by helpful volunteers.

Days open: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday
Wednesday- by appointment
Hours: 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM
We are closed the same holidays as the Administration Bldg.

Please include as much information as possible. Please follow these guidelines when submitting your question:

  1. Ask a short specific questions such as "Do you have a Will for John Smith who died in 1840?" or "I found my ancestor, John Smith listed on the Obituary link for the year 1910, and I would like to get a copy of his obituary." Time does not allow us to answer requests such as "Please send me everything on the FULLER family who lived in Warren County in the 1800’s."
  2. Include helpful information such as full names, dates and residences of the ancestor(s) you are seeking.
  3. Also list any documents you may already have, so we don’t duplicate any research you may have already done.
  4. Please also include a complete snail mail address on your letter so we can send you the information and documentation you have requested. Without a full name and address, we will not answer your request.

All profits from our research are used to purchase new books and better the library for our visitors.
