A photocopy of the 1841 Chattel Tax duplicate is available at the Warren County Resource Library.  The duplicate is arranged as a loose alphabetical listing by township listing number of horses, number of cattle, Mer. Cap, Money and Pleasure Carriages, each with an assigned value.  Horses were valued at $40 each and cattle at $8 each.  Active professionals (doctors and lawyers) are listed at the end of each township.  Some of the townships also included "improvements" and new entries relating to land and buildings.  A final recapitulation at the end of the tax duplicate, is followed by evaluations for a number of properties, all of the lots in the Harrison Square in Waynesville and for lots in the three ministerial sections in Warren County.

This page contains an every name index to the 1840 Chattels Tax duplicate.  The tax duplicate is organized by Township and lists the taxpayer's name, # of horses & value; # of cattle & value; Mer. Cap; Money and P. Carriages No. & Value.
