The Juvenile Court handles offenses concerning minors and most paternity cases specific to Warren County.  Records available to researchers include juvenile delinquency records, custody records, paternity & support cases.  Specific parts of the juvenile delinquency records are accessible but only by written request.  There are some other records created by this court but they are restricted records on a retention schedule, destroyed soon after they are completed.  Records from 1990 and afterwards are still on file at the Juvenile Court Office in the Warren County Probate Court Building.  Records prior to this time are in controlled storage at the Edna L. Bowyer Record Center and Archives in the Lower Level of the Warren County Administration Building.  The first case occurred in 1908.  Juvenile journal book #1 is missing at Archives but book #2 begins in 1926.  It is believed that this division in Warren County developed gradually as the need arose, sometime in the early 1920’s.

Holdings:  Juvenile court maintains records for juvenile court cases such as delinquency, custody, abuse, neglect, unruly and probation.

General information contained in many of these records is public, however some parts of the files are restricted.  Some of juvenile court records not listed here are on a retention schedule and are destroyed after a certain number of years.  Records from 1990 and later are stored at the Courthouse.  Earlier are stored at Archives.  Check with receptionist for availability.
