buried in this county and their burial location to aid researchers. We are
especially in need of people buried here who have no stones or whose stones no
longer exist. If you have any of this information or if you have additional information for anyone who is buried in
this cemetery,
please

Rachel and I went to Butterworth’s and attended the
funeral of uncle
H. T. Butterworth. The remains were interred at the feet of his
father’s remains on the hill overlooking his late and long continued
residence. Here is a rough diagram of several of the graves there with
all their heads toward the west. -------- 1. uncle John Dyer In a row west of these are graves of uncle H. T.’s two little sons, Moorman and Henry Thomas, and other children, relatives. The grave of my brother Thomas, whose exact locality is not now known is still a little further west, with some other graves near it and about 8 or 10 rods further west on the point of the hill are other graves also, including a daughter of Uncle Samuel Butterworth. The grave of uncle William’s daughter Leonisa (Leouisa?) is probably near that of my brother Thomas. After the funeral Rachel rode home with cousin
J. M. Dyer, whither I followed on foot. Our tickets to Fosters and
return cost $3.20 and we paid 20¢ more to go from Fosters to
Butterworth.
Seth Ellis had partial charge of ceremonies at the funeral, cousin
Rachel Hadley spoke 40 minutes, and Emma
Danforth, uncle H. T.’s daughter, read an obituary, embracing
with other things, essentially the matter I prepared, or helped uncle
prepare and arrange (see 1889,7.23). At the grave Rachel Hadley
prayed and
Seth Ellis pronounced a benediction. |
