"The Wilkerson Graveyard was established by James Wilkerson, on his farm on “The Knobs” (Springhill) as a family graveyard. Thomas Deakin, his son-in-law, was the first buried, in 1811, and Solomon Reel the next."

Cemetery History
This small cemetery is located on 0.3 acre parcel of land on the north side of Wilmington Rd. east of Ward-Koebel Road. The cemetery was deeded to the Trustees of the Wilkerson Grave Yard (Paul Vandervort, George F. Longstreth & William Settlemyre) by James Wilkerson (1797-1876) and his 2nd wife, Mahala Wilkerson (1813-1879) on 27 July 1854. His first wife was Jane Wilkerson (1797-1841). According to Beers History, Solomon Reel was the second person buried in this cemetery.
Based on past gravestone readings, we know of at least 83 burials in the cemetery dating from 1811 through 1903, including the family patriarch, James Wilkerson (1758-1834) who was a Revolutionary War veteran. There are also at least 5 known veterans of the War of 1812 (William Settlemire, Paul Vandervoort, Jonah Vandervort, John Wilkerson and William Wilkerson), but no military markers or flag holders on their graves.
