This online index only lists the individual, death date (if known) and reference page. We are creating a master index of everyone who is buried in this county and their burial location to aid researchers. We are especially in need of people buried here who have no stones or whose stones no longer exist. If you have any of this information or if you have additional information for anyone who is buried in this cemetery, please email the Warren County Genealogical Society.

Cemetery History

Beers History of Warren County, Ohio, page 642 says,
"One of the oldest burying-grounds was the now unused part of the Unity School lot. It was set apart about the year 1800, when the first bodies were buried there. In 1813, J. D. Lowe gave a lot, adjoining the one he gave to the Unity Church. In this many bodies have been interred, but it is no longer used as a burying-place."

From From Palmyra To Kirkwood - The Early Progress Of Mason by Dallas Bogan says, “In 1808, just seven years before the founding of Mason, the Presbyterian denomination was founded and were gathering in each other's homes for worship. At this time they called themselves the Unity Congregation of the Presbyterian Church. On December 3, 1812, Noah Cory and David Williamson, the first elders of the church, acquired a lot for $10 from Susan and George Howard. An adequate church was built. Families of the first church were: George, Mary, Peter and Hannah Williamson; John and Hannah Van Dyke; Judge Jacob D. Lowe; Peter and Catherine Wikoff; John and Jane Lynn; John and Mary Monfort; and Noah and Hannah Cory. In 1813, Jacob D. Lowe gave to the Unity Congregation a lot just west of the location of their church to be used as a cemetery. This cemetery was used until the early 1870's.”

A large number of the extant tombstones have been reset into a common, slanted concrete base. Other stones remain in the wooded areas on the perimeter of the cemetery, awaiting "rescue".

The only known military veteran buried in this cemetery is Thomas Hamilton who served in the Revolutionary War.
